Life is Germany or any new country can always be overwhelming. A life hack to student life and experiences from fellow international students will make your journey smooth.
I’ll start with the places around any city or town in Germany.
Every town/city in Germany has a Central place or Zentrum for commerce and government work. Also, the supermarkets and brands are fixed .
And any typical Zentrum will have a Rathaus for all the official work ,for example, City Registration,Change of Address,Visa related work etc. The zentrum will also have the malls, chruch, bus and tramstops, restaurants and major shopping centres.
The supermarkets you will typically find in Germany are Penny, Edeka, Nah and Gut,Kaufland.Netto,Aldi,Lidl etc.
And the major brands and departmental stores you can expect are Espirit, Zara,Mango, Decathlon,H&M,NewYorker,Orsay,Douglas,DM,Rossmann, all major perfumes, watches and luxury brands.
To what kind of products one can expect in the supermarkets is listed below in the following websites:

Finally, talking about rents , the rent in different cities varies ,depending upon your location and contract ,also sometimes the duration, whether you get a fully furnished apartment or not. It can range from anywhere between 100 Euros to 700 Euros.
Hope you find this information useful.
